Michael Wade picks up baton once again for Moorfields
This evening, industry executives will join those from the world of politics for a fundraiser concert and dinner with a symphonic twist.
The event – in aid of the Moorfields Eye Charity – is organised and hosted by Michael Wade OBE, the London market veteran and chairman of Lloyd’s investment vehicle Helios, to coincide with his 70th birthday.
Guests will be treated to a performance by the Southbank Sinfonia orchestra, featuring Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, conducted by Wade himself.
Wade has himself received care at Moorfields Eye Hospital for a serious condition and has become a major supporter of the charity. Ten years ago he conducted Saint-Saëns Symphony No. 3 in C minor at St John’s Smith Square (the same venue as this evening), also on behalf of the eye hospital, to celebrate his 60th birthday.
This evening’s concert aims to support Moorfields’ efforts in preventing blindness through the advancements of genomics and AI, with a fundraising goal of £250,000.
Generous donations have already been received from Lloyd's of London, Howden Re, Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group, Helios and others.
